The ruling
EPRDF has disappeared EPRP leaders and members since 1991 as it marched to
power and later on
after its takeover of power in Addis Abeba.
Tsegaye Gebre Medhin (aka
Debteraw), Sitotaw Hussein, BeleteAmha, Yishak Debre Tsion, Teklai Gebre
Sellasie, Hagos Berhe,Desalegn
Amsalu ,Azanaw Demile
(deported from the Sudan) allfell unto the hands of the ruling Tigrai Front
(TPLF) and weredisappeared since 1991 after being taken from Bahr Dar prison to
Tigrai’s secret dungeons. Ms Aberash Berta, Lemma Haile,Tesfaye Kebede,Abebe
Ainekulu, Berhanu Ijigu, Wondu Sorak Desta, Eyob Tekabe, Demissie Tesfaye, Dilu
Gebyehu, Abayeneh Shiferaw, Getachew Abebe, Getachew Workineh, Abebe Ainekulu,
Mot Baynor, Adugna, Tamratand many others were disappeared in 1993 and
afterwards. Their case has been ignored by local and international human
rights organizations for no expressed reason. All queries by SOCEPP have been met with no
reply from the ruling front that has since the late nineties intensified its actions
against the clandestine EPRP in all possible ways. SOCEPP has not forgotten.
SOCEPP remembers. These fighters for democracy who have been disappeared (and
probably killed) are the real heroes and martyrs of the Ethiopian people.
SOCEPP demands from the ruling front an
official accounting on the fate of the disappeared.
